Riviera Maya Vacation - Part Eight

All you can hope for is a perfect vacation.........even if there just so happens to be a tropical storm looming and heading in your direction.

The weather report on the television showed no indication of any problem...........none........except for the hotel's own channel which informed us of the track of the storm and their word was that the risk was "mild". Hmmmmm............I never heard that word associated with hurricanes and tropical storms. I wasn't worried though.........nobody seemed to be in any panic anywhere. I figured that if the natives start scrambling then I might have a reason to be concerned.

As it was, we were between Playa Del Carmen and Tulum. The storm was to track to our east in a northern direction. All we could do was enjoy the wait for the storm to pass.

There were a few extreme cloudbursts............very heavy rains and some definate sustained winds. All you can do when this happens is head for cover...........we hung out at the beach snack bar area and waited for everything to die down so we could get back to our room.

Even the birds headed for cover and they hung out with us.

So we would wait..........
.........and wait...........

.........and wait..............oh.........and feed the birds while we were at it.

Okay then...........the rain stops.........there may be clouds hovering around but nothing too menacing.
If you ever travel to a destination located in tropical areas such as the Caribbean, especially during the hurricane season, you take the risk that your vacation may be interrupted by a huge storm. In the past, we had been there before a hurricane and after a hurricane..........this was the first time that we would be as close to critical mass........if you know what I mean. As it was, we tend to vacation in late October and early November........less chance of trouble...............okay so you know the old saying "if you play with fire you might get burnt"...............well.........perhaps we didn't get burnt, but we did get a little "toasted".

I can settle for this.........no problem.

Ahhhhhh..........now this is vacation, folks.

Stay tuned! Part Nine is coming.
